WHAT IS A BCC?

The Bible Core Course (BCC) is a three-month, second-level program offered through YWAM’s University of the Nations.

This course offers a unique opportunity to study the Bible in-depth with community who are motivated not only to know about God, but to know him personally and see Him made known amongst the nations.

The BCC equips you with practical tools to read, understand, and apply the Bible in a way that brings real transformation - not only in your own life but in the lives of those around you too.

It’s about letting God’s Word shape your worldview, your choices, and your calling.

What is the difference between 'bcc' and 'dbs'?
Black plus sign icon with rounded edges on a white background.
Both schools are designed to help students know God through His Word, but they have slightly different approaches.

A Discipleship Bible School (DBS) typically focuses on reading through the whole Bible chronologically and understanding the overarching story of Scripture, while a Bible Core Course (BCC) places more emphasis on learning how to study, interpret, and communicate the Bible deeply using inductive study methods.

Really, the culture and experience of any school usually comes down far more to the community and leadership running it than the course title itself. We believe the BCC to be deeply transformative, joy-filled, adventurous, and community-rich while also equipping students with strong biblical foundations and practical study tools for lifelong ministry.
what makes this bcc unique?

Our community is based in a strategic region of the nation - the original frontier of missions, where early missionaries translated the Bible into the local language, leading thousands to faith in Christ. We believe what God has done in this land carries profound significance and serves as a model for missions around the world.

As a community, we're passionate about pioneering alongside the Holy Spirit to see the gospel reach everyone, everywhere. BCC outreaches will be partnering with YWAM global efforts to see the Bible translated into mother tongues and honoring the revelation of Christ amongst unique cultures and communities.
what is the housing like?

We are an urban base, which means you’ll live in shared housing alongside fellow students and staff within the wider community. There’s space to retreat, rest, and focus on your BCC work throughout the week, while also being immersed in daily community life through shared meals, worship, intercession, and other gatherings.

Outside of the BCC schedule, there are plenty of optional opportunities to get involved in - from evangelism and local outreach to spontaneous adventures, community events, and quality time with others in the city.
Do we get an overview of the whole bible?

Yes! Students will read through the entire Bible during the BCC. While the course focuses more deeply on studying selected books using inductive Bible study methods, students are still encouraged and guided to engage with the full biblical narrative from Genesis to Revelation. The goal is not only to understand individual books in depth, but also to grow in seeing the bigger story of God throughout all of Scripture.
